FAQs : How we work

What are the deliverables?

This will depend on the exact nature of the work, smaller benchmarking projects or subject-specific briefing notes could take the form of a relatively simple, single report. QCG’s approach to wider reward projects usually involves both a diagnostic and solution design stage.

QCG’s diagnostic approach is ultimately aimed at testing the alignment of a client’s current approach to strategic priorities, and the organisation’s desired culture and values

The report will often centre on  producing evidence of the competitive positioning of pay against the agreed market reference, as well as internal equity in pay and general consistency in the application of current rules. This will identify potential flaws in the design of the structure, processes and policies determining reward outcomes that may be contributing to current concerns as well as also identify key areas requiring intervention in order to improve the effectiveness and fairness of reward.

Although some clients only require the diagnostic stage,  they will often also commission a solution design report as a second stage. The approach and content used for the solution design aspect will necessarily vary depending on the nature of the issues identified in the Diagnostic stage and the requirements of the client, but typical recommendations often focus on developing guiding principles and the context to position reward as part of a wider ‘employee deal’, as well as more specific recommendations dealing with job evaluation,  pay structure design (and associated processes), employee benefits and recognition. QCG can also advise on implementation and communication.
